Having communion services at the jail for the next ten days.  I was approved to bring in two new ministers that are coming into the jail for the first time.  They are excited about jail and prison ministry.  Praise God.

Sent a concordance today  to one of the jail inmates that went to prison and wrote asking for one.

I walked the lock down units at Southern New Mexico Correctional facility praying and getting into the word with some isolation inmates.   I also gave away about 100 Christmas Cards to inmates that really wanted to send them to their families.

I was walking through one of the pods at the jail and an inmate that is not on my list asked to talk to me.  I said sure and we went in the program room.  I asked when he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He said he wasn’t sure if he did because he can’t feel it.  We talked about the Roman road and that his relationship with God is based on truth and not a feeling.  How Jesus said He was the way, truth and life, not a feeling. He understood and said that was just what he needed to hear.   I love the way God works in such an unplanned way…. At least by me.

Gave a bunch of Bibles out it the lock down area of Rogelio Sanchez unit.  Power going out there.  They only let me be there 1 hour a week so I don’t really know many inmates there but the power of God’s word will change lives.

I was really humbled today.  I talked to an inmate that recited practically word for word what I preached about John 1:1 about 8 months ago.   He told me how it completely changed the way he reads his Bible.  Wow, God is so Faithful.

Hello Church family,                                                                                                                 Sept.  2015

It has been a period of new beginnings in the correctional department for us.  We started ministering in two new prison areas, Rogelio Sanchez Prison in Texas and the Southern New Mexico Correctional Facility in New Mexico.  Both in the high security lock down areas which has brought us about 150 new men to minister to. It’s kept me busy let me tell you. We also have been ministering to four released inmates, they are doing well, it has been an answer to our prayer “what happens next” to these men. To see how God has been moving in our ministry, check out the new posts on the blog.

I received an emergency visit call at 10pm from the El Paso Downtown Jail, the Deputy said the inmate was sad and needed to speak to someone, I asked if he suicidal and he said yes.  I said I would be there in 30 minutes.  I arrived and met the inmate. he was a seasoned convict that was tired of always going back to prison. He was hysterically in tears, saying he hated himself,  his life and just wanted to be with his children.  I prayed with him a few times during our visit and listened lovingly, which sometimes is the most important part.  We were in the word and I tried to encourage him but he just wouldn’t calm down.  I confirmed his decision to receive Christ and he confessed his sins and trusted that God would cleanse him from all unrighteousness.  We talked about God’s perfect plan for his life and his position in the body of Christ.  After an hour he may have appeared slightly calmer on the outside.  The Lord put on my heart to leave him a Bible bookmarked at Psalms.  I told him to read it out loud prayerfully and that the enemy will leave him alone and allow him to sleep, and that I would be back in the morning to see him. I asked if he wanted to hurt himself and he said no.  We closed in prayer, I stood up and said I’ll see you in the morning and he said okay and thanked me, I said thank God.  He was still in tears but I still felt it was time for me to go.

As I left the building to walk to my truck on the streets of  downtown El Paso at almost midnight  (which is not the safest place in the world) I thought its ok, God is with me, and it’s ok, God is with that inmate.  I saw him the next morning and he looked like a new man,  I thought, God is still in the business of doing miracles.  I’m so thankful for God’s faithfulness.

Thank you church family for your prayers and support that allows Lenny to work full time in this vast mission field.  We thank God for you in our prayers and may God bless you!

Serving Christ with you,

Lenny and Saranda Beck.

Saranda’s Prayer Corner                                                    Be still and know that I am God Psalm 49:10

Our loving gracious Heavenly Father, thank you for being all that we need to calm our thoughts in our darkest hour, allowing us to find comfort in your word as You speak to us.  Your word tells us in Psalm 30:5 ‘For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.’ Thank you Lord for this inmate that found comfort in your word and found joy in the morning, to you be the Glory forever and ever in Jesus Name Amen

Visited a brother in a department of corrections half way house.  He is getting out in 30 days.  A lot of spiteful residents will hatefully try to sabotage men that are about to get out.  He was fit to be tied.  One of the many times I know it’s the Lord’s work and not mine because after an hour and a half he was calm and ready again to be faithful  for another 30 days before he is free. Praise God!  Prayers please.
