November News Letter

Hello Church Family,                                                                                                         November 2013

This past month has been a great blessing for our prison ministry and for our family as well.  We had a chance to go back to Lenny’s hometown of over 40 years for our daughter Kanima’s wedding as well as visiting Lenny’s church home of 30 years. It was awesome seeing so many old great friends and family members.  It felt like old times, going back to the early morning men’s prayer meeting.  Pastor Larry invited us to a coffee fellowship & prison ministry update so we could share all the new ways the Lord has been working through us in the prison and jails in El Paso.  Thank you, home church for blessing us with a lap top computer. It will make office type work incredibly faster and allow me to spend the saved time leading inmates to Christ.  A special thank you Margo (& Collin & Misty) for sharing your lovely home with us. We are forever grateful for your hospitality, delicious meals and the best homemade bread French toast in the world.

Our vacation was everything a great vacation should be, even the part about being ready and glad to come home. I had an urgency in my heart to get back to the men at the prison and jail.  We arrived to our home in El Paso at about 12:30 at night and I headed to the jail at 8:00 in the morning to start the week off.  There were 29 inmate requests waiting for me as I walked into the administration office and I was able to hand out 14 Bibles. One of the requests that came was from inmate SM; he wrote that he really wanted a Bible so he could get to know God and what God wants from and for him.   The Holy Spirit put it on my heart to deliver a Bible to him personally.  After greeting him, I asked about his church background and he said his parents went to church but he never wanted to, but now that he is in jail he wants to learn about God.  I talked about God’s love and plan for our lives for about 20 minutes before I asked him if he wanted to accept Jesus, Gods free gift to us.  He quickly said “Yes sir I do”.  After we prayed I told SM that the Bible tells us that when one sinner repents the angels in heaven rejoice and said they are rejoicing rite now!  I encouraged him to sign up for a free Bible college correspondence course that would help him to know more about God and what God wants from him and for him, and he eagerly said he wanted to.

Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.  Psalm 47:6

Thank you all for your support that allows me to continue having the best job in the world.

In His service with you,

Be still and know that I am God Psalm 46:10

Lord, your word speaks to us, even today during this Thanksgiving season. Psalm 100:4-5 tells us that we are to ‘enter your gates with thanksgiving and your courts with praise, giving thanks to you and praising your name for you Lord are good and your love endures forever, your faithfulness continues through all generations’. YES Lord, we are so thankful that we can come to you knowing that your love for us endures forever and ever through your son Jesus Christ, in HIS Precious Name we pray. AMEN
